The Bronze Lantern Cafe was located at the northwest corner of Williams Avenue and Edwards Road. Today, a Gold Star chili parlor sits at that spot. This photo shows a crowd outside the tavern, watching water shoot from a fireplug, apparently broken by the automobile shown sitting on the sidewalk.

In January 1950, the tavern was raided by state agents, who discovered evidence of a bookmaking operation.

This 1971 advertisement shows a Bronze Lantern at 5141 Montgomery Road.
This may be the same business.
