NAMED "NORWOOD OHIO"

In the early 20th century there was a thoroughbred racehorse named "Norwood Ohio." The following race information has been found. It appears that it raced in the winters at New Orleans. In the handbook HORSES IN TRAINING, 1907, Norwood Ohio is listed under the "Miscellaneous" section as a chestnut-colored five-year old gelding, sired by Buck Massie by dam Liebe ...

The 1904 and 1905 races may have been at the New Orleans Fair Grounds.
    


Note: in the 1880s there was a horse name "Ayacucho" who was renamed "Norwood." There is no indication that this horse was named after our town, but this may have been the reason "Norwood Ohio" was given that name intead of "Norwood."
